A lot of mobile detailing advertising quietly assumes a suburban driveway. Large parts of Waterbury do not have one. Brooklyn, the East End and much of the flat ground around downtown are triple-deckers and terraced streets where every car is at the kerb.
That does not rule out mobile detailing. It rules out most mobile detailers.
The question that decides it
Ask whether they bring their own water and their own power.
A genuinely self-contained rig carries a filled tank and a generator, and needs nothing from the building you live in. A large number of operators calling themselves mobile expect to run a hose from an outside tap and an extension lead from a garage — which is fine in a suburb and useless on a street of triple-deckers where there is no accessible tap and the outlet you could reach belongs to somebody else.
If the answer involves your spigot, the booking will not survive contact with your address.
What we actually need at the kerb
Not much, and it is worth being specific so you can judge in advance:
- One parking space, and ideally the one behind it free so there is room to work along the flanks and open doors fully
- Reasonably level ground, because water needs to run somewhere predictable
- Somewhere sensible for run-off that is not straight into a storm drain — this matters and a professional operation will have thought about it
- No overhead hazard, which mostly means not directly under a tree that is dropping
That is the entire list. No tap, no outlet, no garage, and you do not need to be home once we have the keys.
The realistic constraints
Winter street parking. If a parking ban is in effect or the street is being ploughed, we will reschedule rather than work in the way of a plough. That is not caution for its own sake, it is that a half-finished car in the path of a plough helps nobody.
Tight streets. On the narrowest blocks it is worth moving the car a few spaces to somewhere with room, and often a resident knows a better spot fifty yards away than we would find. Tell us when you book and we will plan around it.
Time of day. On a street that empties during working hours, mid-morning is easier than early evening for everyone.
What it costs, unchanged
Kerbside work is the same price as driveway work: full detail $275, interior $175, exterior $145. One price whatever you drive, $75 more for genuinely oversized vehicles, excluding sales tax.
We do not charge extra for the address being harder, because bringing our own everything is what the service is. Call the Waterbury crew on (860) 370-4162 or book online.
